Achrafieh, Beirut district
Marie-Carmen Fallaha, of Mexican origin and settled in Lebanon for seven years, has studied interior design at LAU. In 1999, after the office where she worked closed, she started making bags rather than applying elsewhere. At first, she made a few dozen bags to test them on friends. Her models are made of soft leather, either square shaped with a thin strap matching the material for the shoulder, or more classical, baguette style with a zipper but inlaid with small metal pieces. A third model was made from old clasps found on the first doctor's bags; it too is made of soft leather in several colors. Marie-Carmen Fallaha, a lover of colors and leathers, has also made mules and flip-flops in which flowers dominate, as well as other patterns, some of which match the bags.
