The Cervantes Institute is an institution created in 1991 with the aim of promoting the teaching of the Spanish language and spreading the culture of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. The central headquarters of the Institution are located in Madrid and in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), birthplace of the writer Miguel de Cervantes. The Cervantes Institute is present in 86 centers in 45 countries across the five continents. The institution is responsible for organizing exams for the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) and issuing official certificates and diplomas to participants in our courses; organizing Spanish language courses; organize training courses for Spanish teachers to support the activities of the Hispanists; organizing cultural activities in collaboration with other institutions. The work of the Cervantes Institute is directed by representatives of the Spanish and Latin American academic, cultural and literary world.
